IN MEMORY OF HOWARD S RAABE, JR

Citizens for Easton mourns the passing of our friend and fellow board member, Howard S. Raabe, Jr., who died peacefully at home on October 7, 2025. Though Howard had joined CFE’s board only a year or so ago, his presence and contributions were immediately felt.

An accomplished architect and longtime Easton resident, Howard brought a meticulous eye and deep appreciation for the town’s natural and historic character to all he did. His enthusiasm and hands-on help were instrumental in organizing this year’s 16th Annual CFE Farm Tour—an event that celebrates Easton’s agricultural heritage and community spirit. Howard’s thoughtful approach, creative ideas, and steady commitment made the event one of our most memorable.

Beyond his work with CFE, Howard’s life reflected his devotion to preservation and community. He was deeply involved in historic restoration projects, served as senior warden at Calvary St. George’s Episcopal Church in Bridgeport, and poured care into both architecture and music—singing in local choirs and writing “The Dragon Slayer,” his weekly church commentary.

Howard’s passing came as a great shock to all who knew him. His kindness, gentle humor, and generous spirit will be dearly missed by his fellow board members and by the wider Easton community. Citizens for Easton extends sincere condolences to his family and friends. Howard’s dedication to preserving what makes Easton special will remain part of our shared legacy.
